The Quest for the last Blue Fire Phoenix part 1- Haily

Normally I would thank my mother for her gift to me, but being immortal also makes my aroma stronger. So you can imagine how annoying it must get when you go to take a walk around Manhattan with a friend and monsters are constantly popping up out of no where!
On this particular day my friend Danny and I had rented some bikes and were riding around the city of Manhattan while we talked about the past few weeks I had missed while I was away working for my mom.
You see my mom is Hebe the goddess of eternal youth. And well a few years back she had offered me the job of being of the keepers of her fountain. And well I couldn't turn her down, how often do you get to work with your mom who is a goddess? Fortunately she didn't say that taking the job would mean being gone three months of the year.
My three months had just ended today and Danny, my best friend in the whole camp, had met me at the park when I got back to Manhattan. And after riding around a bit on the bikes we decided to stop for lunch.
I had just finished my tuna sandwich when suddenly I got this feeling that some sort of trouble was coming, and wouldn't you know it BAM!
There was this loud BANG coming from the near by street, the car horns honking and screeching tires and another large BANG!
Now being a demigod, this wasn't unusual. I mean these kinds of things happen all the time when we leave Camp Half-Blood. We are trained to be ready for theses situations.
So as soon as the sounds had started Danny and I had jumped to our feel and activated our weapons, His being a black belt with a skull buckle that stretches out into a full fledged four foot black sword, and mine being a bronze bracelet that when tapped three time also turns into a small bronze sword maybe two and a half feet long.
We ran as fast as our legs could carry us to see what all the commotion was, and well what we found was really just a young Cyclops throwing a tantrum in the middle of the street.
I quickly scanned the area for any form of water I could use for an Iris message. Danny spotted one first, a water fountain. PERFECT!
I rushed over pulling a golden drachma from my pocket. As soon as I arrived at the fountain Danny had already gotten the water to mist and make a rainbow, so all that was left was to call Chiron.
I tossed my drachma into the mist and called out "Oh Iris goddess of the rainbow, pleas take my offering! Chiron, Camp Half-Blood."
The mist shimmered for a few seconds. More screeching and honking came from the streets, and then Chiron appeared in the mist.
"Haily, Danny, I wasn't expecting a call from you, is every thing alright?"
"Well, No. we have a baby Cyclops throwing a fit near the park, and I wanted you advise on what we should do."
Chiron pondered the situation for a few moments before replying "Ah, I see, you don't want to kill him but you don't want him casing anymore trouble."
Danny looked at me with a quizzical look. "You mean you actually don't want to kill this monster?"
"Just because I have had bad encounters with Cyclops in the past doesn't mean I hate them Danny."
"But—"
Danny was about to reply but he got cut short by Chiron. "Haily, I must agree with Danny, The Cyclops is to close to a large city, you must take him down. Now if you will excuse me, I have a class to get back to." And with that Chiron waved his hand and the mist evaporated.
Danny and I exchanged looks. Then I shrugged, grinned and charged towards the street. He smiled and chased after me.
I didn't let the situation get to me to much; I mean I did see where they were coming from.
When we arrived at the scene chaos was every where. Cars flipped over, people running and screaming, small fires all over the place, and a VERY upset Cyclops.
He was just sitting there yelling about something while smashing two cars together. I got the feeling he was just playing with them.
Danny and I headed in the direction of the Cyclops, and as soon as he saw us, he picked up one of his cars and chucked it in our direction.
We dodged it fairly well, but the second one caught me off guard.
It didn't hit me but the shockwave from the impact of the car threw me back a few feet strait into a street light.
Stars swirled around my head but I shook them off as fast as I could. I needed to help Danny.
I jumped back to my feet and began searching for my sword. It had been knocked from my hand when I was hit by the impact, and now I was weaponless.
I ran around trying to locate my sword thinking how lucky Percy Jackson was that his would just show up again in his pocket after a few minutes.
I dodged another piece of flying car parts, and then I spotted it! Though were it was I didn't know how I was going to get it. The Cyclops was using it to hack off pieces of the surrounding cars.
I scanned the area looking for were Danny might be hiding, to my luck I couldn't find him anywhere through all the chaos. So I did the next best thing that I could. I grabbed a piece of shrapnel and charged at the Cyclops. He swung at me a few times and I managed to dodge his strikes while also trying to get my sword out of his hands.
I was having no luck.
The more times I came back at him, the more violent and frequent his swings became. And finally there came one that I couldn't dodge. He hit my from behind with my own sword! The nerve!
My vision went fuzzy and the ground felt as if it was spinning, until I hit it and Felt how hard it was. When my vision started to clear I saw the Cyclops coming towards me grinning with my sword razed above his ugly head. My eyes grew wide and I seriously thought it was the end of me, but as the monster came closer to me her evaporated!
I laid my head back for a moment and closed my eyes thanking the gods. When I opened them again I saw Danny holding out his hand to help me up.
I took hid hand gladly. Then I looked at him and he seamed to know what I wanted from him.
He shrugged then he started to explain. "I was trying to shadow travel behind the Cyclops but accidentally went down town. I had to wait a few minutes to regain my strength before I could try again, then when I did I got back just in time to see you laying on the ground about to be pulverized by the beast, so I drew my sword and stabbed it straight though him!"
"And now he is dust." I smiled at him then bro fist him in the shoulder. "Now we just need to call Chiron and get a ride back to camp."
This time it was Danny's turn to get a Drachma and mine to find a water source.
It wasn't hard we just used one of the broken pipes that the Cyclops had burst open during our little fight. The whole time Danny talked to Chiron I just kept looking at the mess and trying to think what ridicules story the mortals would use to cover this up.
Finally Danny came back and told me that Chiron had sent Argus to come pick us up.

It was a half hour later when Argus came and picked us up. Our ride back to camp was quiet, I guess because Danny and I were just so tired we didn't really feel like talking, and as I looked over at him my question was answered as to why he was so quiet. He was asleep. So I just left him be and again fell into deep thought. The past few weeks while I was with my mom I was having the strangest dreams about a large dark cave, and voices whispering my name a laughing at me. i would walk through the large cavern and into a dimly lit room where a man sat on a throne. His face was hidden in darkness and when he spoke the words came from every where, saying my name over and over, then I would wake up.
I know it shouldn't have shaken me as much it did but being a demigod you never know what dreams could mean.
As I was getting deeper into my thoughts I was shaken out of them very suddenly by Danny. We had made it back to camp.

My heart almost exploded with excitement the minute I stepped foot on Half-Blood hill. Just looking at the camp, I felt at home and couldn't wait to settle into my cabin again!
The only reason I didn't run strait to my cabin was because I knew Chiron would want to talk with Danny and I about our little adventure at the park.
The meeting went by pretty fast, there wasn't really much to say. We explained sighting the Cyclops and how we destroyed him. That was really all there was to tell.
When I had finished explaining every thing Chiron simply just started working on more paperwork and dismissed us.
When Danny and I exited the entrance to the big house I took in a deep breath taking in all the familiar smells, turned to look at Danny and with a large smile told him how happy I was to be back home.
He smiled back and together we ran off towards the cabins.
We split off to go our separate ways to go to our own cabins. I walked threw my door and I could tell I was home. The familiar smell of the flowers that had been growing in one of my windows for the past year (they kept alive thanks to the help of Demeter kids) as I walked around my cabin thinking about how awesome it was to be home I found a small package laying on the foot of my bed. I walked over and sat down next to it, picked it up and read who it was from.
It was from one of my best friends Katrina Jones. It was kinda heavy and about the size of a book, and being that Katrina was a daughter of Athena I figured that was probably what it was.
I unwrapped the little package and found a book on Hebe, it also had a small note attached that read 'It was the only book on Hebe I could find, took a while but I managed to find the right welcome home gift!'
That just brightened my mood even more. I set the book on my bed side table and headed for the door. I needed to see my friends.

I spent the rest of my day going and seeing as many of my friends as I could find. But some hadn't come to camp yet and others were out on quests.
I stopped by the Hephaestus cabin first. I had a little souvenir for Ricky.
I knocked on the door and one of Ricky's siblings opened the door, it was one of his brothers whom I didn't know with name of but he looked awful, he was covered in motor oil and the tips of his hair were singed. I gave him a large smile and asked if Ricky was in. he gave me a large smile back and told me to wait a minute while he went to find him.
A few minutes past before a huge shadow appeared in the door way, it was Ricky with his usual grin and black charred hands fiddling with something.
He smiled down at me and gestured for me to follow him a little further from the cabin door.
I gave him a huge smile and grabbed something from within my pocket. I held my clenched hand up and opened my fingers to reveal a small leather bag.
Ricky's eyes grew wide as I held the small bag in front of him. "is that…"
"Sand from my mothers hidden shores, yup!"
"How did you?..."
"I told you I would; I live there three months of the year! I still don't know what you want with it is just sand…"
"Sand that happens to be magic! As for what I want to do with it, that's a surprise for you to find out about later."
He smirked at me and I handed him the back, then he turned and walked into his cabin and I went off to find my next friend to say hello to.
Hours went by the time I had finally made it to saying hi to Katrina.
I found her at the border of the woods reading some book on Greek Myths, she didn't even notice me coming until I sat next to her and asked if the book was any good.
She shot her head in my direction and before I could say hi she had tackled me with a hug. She kept squeezing harder until I made her let go so I could breath. Then we laughed and she started asking me questions about my mom.
I told her what little I could, but she was always so curious, I guess she gets that from her mom.
We sat and talked about stuff that I had missed at camp the past three months, and we talked about things that had happened with a couple of close friends to. Quests that had gone on, campers who had left camp and never come back and new arrivals that I would have to meet.
We were just getting started on the topic of my friend Penny Shellin and her boy friend when the bell for dinner rang.
Katrina looked at me with a huge grin, shot to her feet and took off yelling back to me "I'll race you there!"

It was funny, even though Katrina had a head start I still beat her to the mess hall.
Though when we arrived we had to split up and go to our own tables. One of the only things I didn't like about camp. We had to sit at certain tables depending on who our god parent was.
After I got my food and had scraped some of it off and thanked my mother I had a quiet dinner. I ate my food rather fast, wasn't even sure if I tasted most of it and waited to be dismissed for the bonfire.

I sat with Danny and Katrina at the bonfire, we laughed and sand along with each other and even messed with a few of the other campers, just for fun.
The bonfire didn't seam to be as long as it was on other nights, but it may have just been that I hadn't been to one in so long.

When I had made it back to my cabin I just plopped on my bed and as soon as my head hit my pillow I was out! No changing into bed cloths, getting under the covers, notta. I was just plain out.
I awoke with an icy chill going down my spine. My eyes flew open and I sat strait up. When my sight cleared I noticed my cabin was covered in a thick green fog.
I looked around the room trying to figure out were it was coming from.
When I spotted the source my blood ran cold and my heart skipped a beat! At the far end of my cabin was the camps Oracle Rachel Elizabeth Dare.
I had heard how scary she looked when in her oracle mode, but it didn't prepare me for the actual thing! He eyes were glowing a bright green and vapors were poring from her mouth. And when she spoke, it sounded like someone was dragging nails down a chalk board.
She walked closer to my bed and stopped a foot away from me. Then she spoke the prophecy.
"A Majestic beast bright and fair
Shall lay an egg bring forth its heir,
The child of youth shall retrieve with care,
With brave friends true and rare.
And in the end shall fail to return,
Trapped in the clutches of darkness scare"
After uttering those words she collapsed to the floor. Leaving me sitting on my bed unable to speak, move, or think.

I sat there at the end of by bed until morning, though I didn't even notice it was morning until I herd a knock on my door and when I didn't answer Chiron barged in.
I didn't see the look on his face but judging by the way he shook me out of my trans and picked up Rachel im sure he knew what had happen, but that didn't stop him from asking any questions.
He placed Rachel on one of the empty beds and then came and knelt before me.
"My dear, im sure I already know what has happened here but I must know from your own words. What happened last night?"
so I told him the story of what had gone down in my cabin, and how shaken the prophecies words had left me.
He pondered what I had told him for a few moments.
Right before he seamed to answer me Rachel stirred on the bed that Chiron had laid her in. she looked over at us with a confused look, the quickly shook it off.
She must have gotten used to waking up in random spots after prophesying.
Chiron went over and spoke with her for a few moments before she got up and left my cabin. Then he turned his attention back to me.
"It seams my dear that you will be leading your own quest, and from the sounds of it, it must be an urgent one to. So you had better get ready and gather your companions. I will have Argus prepare the bus. Can you be ready by noon?"
I lowered my head and nodded.
He placed his hand on my shoulder 'do not worry to much on this prophecy, they are not always as they sound. Now I must speak with Argus and get back to my classes. And you must find your fellow demigods that will go with you on your quest."
And with that said he stood up and walked out of my cabin.
I spent the next fifteen minutes packing every thing I could think of that I would need for my quest. I had been on many quests but I was never the leader of one. This would make for an interesting experience.

Once I made it out of my cabin I went in search of Danny and Katrina, There weren't any other demigods I would want to go with than my two best friends.
I didn't have to look too hard because they seamed to have been looking for me to. As soon as I entered the mess hall I was tackled by Katrina asking me were I had been all morning and why I hadn't been at breakfast.
Danny just stood there panting like he had been on a wild goose chase, and knowing Katrina he probably had been.
She kept asking me question after question until finally I put my hand over her mouth.
I took a deep breath and began to explain what had happened.
"Last nigh I was visited by the oracle who gave me a prophecy, im not sure what about but it sounded important and I know its some type of large bird."
"Well that's helpful. What did the prophecy say?" Katrina asked
I looked at my friends and told them the first few lines about the bird. But no more.
"Well, that sounds like it could be a phoenix, it is the time of year that they lay their eggs and they are quite majestic and bright."
Danny just shook his head in agreement.
"Well now that that's settles, I have one last thing I need, fellow demigods…"
"AND YOU WANT USE TO COME ALLONG RIGHT?!" Katrina cut me off.
I just smiled and answered yes.
They looked and each other and together replied yes.
We went around camp gathering the things that we would need. I stopped by the Apollo cabin to gather some medical supplies.
The door opened to one of the girls of the cabin standing in the door way. I waved my hand "hi Saige, hows it going"
She smiled back and answered "it's like any other day here, a lil crazy, fending off the Ares Cabin, you know the usual."
Katrina giggled and I tried not to.
"So what do you guys need?"
"We need some medical supplies… for our quest."
Saige's eyes grew wider. "You guys got a quest!"  She nudged my shoulder "good for you!"
I lowered my head a little sheepishly. "Yea good for me."
She looked at me with a mix of puzzlement and excitement. "What's that tone for? This is what you've always wanted Haily, to have your own quest."
I perk up a little for my friend's sake and threw on a smile. "Yea it is what iv always wanted."
Then Danny cut in. "so… can we get the supplies, we are kind of in a hurry."
Saige suddenly snapped up into place and rushed off.
"Was it something I said?" Danny asked with a confused expression. Katrina and I just began to laugh.
A few moments later Saige opened the door again and handed us each a backpack.
"Here you guys go! Every thing you will need medical wise for your quest!"
     "Thanks Saige."
     "No problem."
And with that we split ways and Katrina Danny and I headed off to gather more supplies.

We spent the next hour running around camp trying to make sure we had all that we would need. Katrina stopped by her cabin to grab any book she had on Phoenixes and stuffed them into her backpack that Saige had given her, along with a brush and some extra shirts and pants.
Danny didn't let us enter his cabin, he was always afraid to let us in which just made me even more curious as to what was inside. And I admit I was also hoping to get to say hi to Nico. But Danny assured me he wasn't inside anyways. He had been gone at month.
Danny only took a few minutes inside before he came back out with his backpack slung over his shoulder and a small, slightly fake smile.
He looked up at us. "Just saying bye to Hope and telling her to behave for Demetrius while I'm gone."
"I'm sure your sister will be fine." I assured him.
We left the Hades cabin and started on our way to half-blood hill. We were about half way up to the top when some one started yelling for Danny and us to wait. We all turned around to see Ricky running up the hill behind us.
"Danny! Wait! I've got something for you!"
Danny looked at him with a puzzled expression.
     "You do?"
"Yea…" Ricky stopped and started huffing. 'iv been working on this for a little while. And I thought now would be a good time to give it to you"
He lifted his hand in front of Danny and opened it. Inside was a silver watch.
Danny looked down at it puzzled. "A watch?"
Ricky began to laugh. "Just put it on will you?"
Danny took the watch and put it on his wrist. It shrank down to fit his wrist perfectly without being uncomfortable.
"Whoa!" Danny marveled at the watch.
Ricky grinned. "It gets cooler, hit that button there!"
Danny tapped a small button on the side of the watch and it transformed into a huge round bronze shield.
"Dude! Double Whoa! This is awesome!"
"I know you have been needing a shield since you lost you last one and this one can actually be hidden."
Danny looked back up at Ricky and closed the shield. "Thanks dude."
Ricky just waved a hand at him. "Any time man."
And with that he turned around and headed back into camp.

It had just turned noon by he time we had made it to the top of the hill.
Argus led us to the van and we started on our way into Manhattan.
I had no idea where we were going, but I was glad to have Katrina with us because she seamed to know allot about phoenixes and where they like to nest. We had five locations to try out.
The first one was in New York City. So that was where we were off to first. We would be dropped off by Argus then we would take a cab to New York City.
sooo i decided since im not sure when the full thing will be done im going to start posting the story in parts from the different main characters eyes.
