So though i feel reluctant to share this information with any one, Hyla feels that is is only fair for me to tell all of you about my past. she feels it will be good for me and will help me threw whatever it is i am going threw. so you may thank her for this information, if it was up to me, no one but Hyla would ever get to know of this. and no this is not every thing of my past, only what I agreed to share.

I was very young when i first became a rider. at the age of 10 i was a very cheerful elf, i always wore white and green. I had beautiful strawberry blond hair and the most lovely green eyes. My mother had always told me that my eyes meant that i had great wisdom within me, and that all i had to do was tap into that wisdom and i could do anything.
believing her i would always ask "Even finding father and Marstel?" Marstel was my older brother, i had never met him or my father. he and my father had gone to war during the time of Galbatorix, but they never came home.
i loved to sing and grow the plants. i had many friends and almost never hid myself from any event, good or bad.
My life only became more ecstatic when Hyla hatched for me in Ellasmera while making its way threw Du Weldenvarden. there where three eggs going threw, two smaller ones both the color of newly formed leaves off an oak tree. then there as a larger black egg that i was told had been laid by a larger wild dragon.
All the elves rejoiced and we celebrated for many nights and days when she hatched for me. then my master came for me on the third week of our celebrating. he was taller than most elves i had ever seen, his name was Katropis and his dragon was Saradona, a large purple dragon. he told me how he had only had Saradona for a few years but that they had completed there training and where ready to train me. he took me to his domain in the Spine where he lived, and we began our many years of training.
Finally, after 32 years of hard training he finally felt i was ready for my first mission. he bestowed upon me my own riders sword, the blade was as black as night. though he came with me i was still overwhelmed that i was actually getting my own mission!
We flew all the way out to the Hadarac Desert, where there were rumors of a small uprising was begging to form. little did we really understand the true force of this uprising and whom and what it contained.
the uprising was against the new empire, and they where the Magicians of Alagaesia that the queen had ordered to be watched and kept close monitored. they had been most unhappy in the past few years of peace, being unable to use most of there magics. and now they where finally preparing themselves for a strike.
When my master and i first arrived at the location they where staying at, we didn't think there would be much trouble, we could have taken them easily. but that's where we were wrong. for in there hatred towards the queen and what she was forcing upon them they created a new shade, a shade by the name of Skretrua (Skray-TRU-A)
he was powerful much more powerful than either of us had expected. he quickly over powered us both.
together my master and i killed the shade, but not without consequence. i was taken prisoner and Hyla was badly wounded, i had no idea what had become of my master or Saradona. all i knew is that the magicians had drugged me, i couldn't talk, nor could i keep my thoughts together. i had had a very powerful dose. i didn't now what was going to happen to me and i feared for Hyla, they had left her where she had fallen and threw my drugged state i could not sense her threw our mind link.
i feared she was dead.
When the doors opened to where i was being kept i feared they where going to kill me. but what they had in mind was much worse than death.
they took me down many dimly lit tunnels from what seamed to be an underground bunker. when we reached the final destination they drugged me with another dose then they threw me within a small room.
there standing before me where five hooded figures. two of them held chains while the other three worked together to drag me over to a pole that was placed in the center of the room. they set me down and motioned for the two with the chains to come forth. then they chained me to the stake.
my heart was racing fast at that moment and it was difficult to breath. but i kept strong. the the tallest of the five stepped forward and removed his hood.
he had a crooked smile that was missing a few teeth. he had three ugly scares across his face and one of his eyes held a patch atop it. he smiled at me wickedly and when he spoke his voice sounded that of mettle scrapping mettle.
"You have cost us dearly, you have young rider. you and your dragon along with your masters have killed our last shade. that is something that cannot go unpunished." he turned towards his companions and spoke to them in a hushed tone, they then began to take their places forming a circle around me. "Your master and that of your dragon have fallen, and your dragon lays on the field slowly dying as we speak. there is no hope for you." he stroked his hand against my face and under my chin. "and now for your payment to us, oh yes because you must pay, we will have you as our new shade." he smiled once again, sending shivers down my spine.
he then turned and joined the others completing the circle. then as one they all began to sway chanting the ancient language.
lights began to float around in front of me, there was great pain spreading all throughout my body. my head ached and i felt hot all over. i screamed out in pain knowing that it would do nothing to help me. the pain grew more intense and i felt myself crying. i was unashamed of the tears that flowed from my eyes. i could feel the spirits coming and trying to take control, i fought, i fought against it with all my might.
then there was a loud scream and my vision cleared just the slightest bit, but just enough to see that one of the magicians, a female that looked to be in her sixties, had been struck down by someone from behind. but then the pain that had lessened began to increase again, with a more violent uphold.
and then another scream of pain, this one a male. the pain again lessened its hold on me and i could feel the spirits fighting to keep hold upon me.
then another fell, and another.
that left the last of the magicians, the leader. he turned away from me still keeping his rhythm with the ancient language. he drew his sword. but all i could make of the fight was mettle upon mettle and someone chanting every now and then.
then in an instant there was a glorious flash of bright white light that filled the room, and the pain disappeared. sight again returned to my eyes, and what i saw, i cannot explain an emotion strong enough for.
My mater stood there before me starting down at the smoldering remains on what was once the leader of the magicians.
my master looked at me, horror stricken by what he saw. then he collapsed to the ground and turned to ash. apparently he had been affected by a spell as well. i cried out his name, then i to slipped away from consciousnesses.

when i awoke i was back in Ellesmeria, lying in a dim room. at the side of my bed sat my mother. she was stroking my hair and talking to me in her beautiful voice. when i tried to sit up, she looked at me with a worried expression, then slowly set me beck down into my laying position. "You are not yet healed Draina." she told me as she lay my head against the pillow. i looked into her eyes and suddenly fear griped me once again.
"Where is Hyla!?!" i asked in desperation.
my mother just looked down at me. i didn't know what to make of her face. she was always so hard to read and at this moment i could not tell if her expression was grief or joy. then she spoke up. "Hyla is down below being treated to. she had some very deep wounds."
"and what of Katropis and Saradona?" i asked even though i was already sure i knew the answer.
My mothers face changed to an expression i could easily read. sorrow.
"They fell to the magicians, but not before warning us of the danger you where both in and asking for reinforcements. you are luck to be alive, or to be yourself."
i was puzzled at this comment and she must have been able to read my face for she replied. "you do not look yourself and that is because of what those monsters had tried to force upon you." she looked away from me and reached for a table by my bedside, then she brought up a mirror and showed me my reflection.
horror overcame me, there in the mirror was not my reflection but that of a shade. my once beautiful strawberry blond hair was now blood read, my green eyes full of wisdom, now grey as the clouds that bring storms. the freckles that had ones been on my sun tanned face were now gone and my skin was white as snow.
i wept not caring who herd me. but i felt no different, besides the weakness, i still felt myself, then i realized my master had saved me before the full transformation took place. he had given himself for me.

after that day i was changed, i was no longer cheery or happy, i no longer used my voice to sing with joy but sorrow. i left Ellesmeria and took to living in Fathen Dur.
lol ya, im actually really happy with how this came out. even if it isnt finished yet.
